SPECIAL ELEPHANT
This
guided tour will bring you first to Doi Inthanon National Park
(Thailand’s highest peak 2565 m), then the next days you will learn
more about Thailand’s working elephants.
DEPARTURE:
Private tour, daily from Chiang Mai, minimum 2 persons (single person on request)
DAY 1 CHIANG
MAI
Transfer
from the airport to the hotel in the city centre. If time allows, an
optional sightseeing tour in- and around Chiang Mai can be arranged,
otherwise rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 2
CHIANG MAI - MAE SOPOK
Tour
to Doi Inthanon National Park (Thailand's highest peak, 2565 m). Enjoy
nice mountain scenery from the 2 royal pagodas on the peak and see
picturesque waterfalls, such as the Mae Ya and Vachirathan. There are
opportunities for short walks as well. Go on down the valley, passing
Karen- and Hmong hill tribe villages. Arrive late afternoon.
DAY 3 MAE SOPOK
First introduction into the life of a working elephant, feeding, learning commands and behaviour. After lunch
starting to use commands while riding an elephant. Later bring the elephant into the forest to be feed.
DAY 4
MAE SOPOK - CHIANG MAI
In the morning you and the mahout
will get the elephant out of the forest. Then ride through the river by
using the learned commands and finally let the elephant enjoy his daily
bath in the river. A short walk to a nearby waterfall in the jungle is
possible. Later enjoy a trip on a bamboo raft down the river. Late
afternoon transfer back to Chiang Mai. Overnight in the city centre.
DAY 5
CHIANG MAI
Day at leisure until transfer to the airport or extend you stay (depend on your further program)
FLEXIBILITY:
For people who want to learn even more about elephants
an additional day in Mae Sopok can be included in the itinerary. Also
it is possible to skip the trip to Doi Inthanon, in that case on 2nd
day transfer direct to Mae Sopok.

Air-conditioned
transportation and partly by pick up truck during the tour, English
speaking tour guide, all transfers and excursions as mentioned in the
above itinerary, accommodation 2 nights in a good middle class hotel
and 2 nights at simple, but clean guest house or alternative at jungle
camp (your choice!) daily breakfast, lunch during the tours, 2 times
diner, entrance fees
