LAOS DISCOVERY TOUR
 This itinerary starts with a flight
from Chiang Mai to the former royal Laotian town of Luang Prabang
on the banks of the Mekong River. Then it continues via the big
Nam Ngum Lake to Vangvieng and its picturesque landscape. Finally
you wil reach the Laotian capital Vientiane where the tour ends.
DEPARTURE:
Daily departure from Chiang
Mai, private tour, minimum 2 persons
DAY 1 CHIANG MAI
On arrival transfer to the hotel in
the city center and rest of the day at leisure in the northern
capital of Thailand.
DAY 2 CHIANG MAI - LUANG PRABANG
In the morning opportunity for an optional
tour in Chiang Mai (also visit of an elephant camp possible).
Early afternoon take a short flight to the former royal Laotian
town of Luang Prabang. Visa upon arrival at the airport against
a fee of US$ 30.-. Transfer to the hotel. Late afternoon enjoy
a boat trip on the Mekong River and visit the holy Tam Ting caves
at the junction of the Ou River, that are enshrining numerous
Buddha images. On the way back stop at a riverside village, which
is famous for rice wine distillation.
DAY 3 LUANG PRABANG
Visit Kuangsy waterfall and see some
remote villages on route. It includes also the weaving village
of Ban Phanom. In the afternoon take a tour in the old Laotian
capital, visit ancient temples and the former King's palace.
DAY 4 LUANG PRABANG - VANGVIENG
In the morning take a short flight to
Vientiane. From there continue to the big Nam Ngum Lake where
you take a boat ride. Then go on and arrive in Vangvieng in the
afternoon, a small town in the middle of some picturesque landscapes.
Stay at a small resort on the banks of the Song River.
DAY 5 VANGVIENG - VIENTIANE
Enjoy the nice surroundings with many
lime stone cliffs and caves and observe the daily life along
the river. Then drive for approx. three hours to Vientiane and
take a sightseeing tour in the Laotian capital, which includes
all major sights, such as That Luang Stupa,
Pratu Xai and the central market. Overnight in the city center.
DAY 6 VIENTIANE
Day at leisure until departure. Transfer
to the airport or Lao/Thai border at the Friendship Bridge near
Nong Khai......Transfer also available all the way to Udon Thani.
OPTIONS:
A side trip to Xiengkhouang with
a visit of the Plain of Jars can be included in this itinerary.
In that case we have to add another day/night.
On request it is possible to do this
itinerary vice versa with start of the tour in Vientiane and
end in Chiang Mai.
VISA:
A 15-days visa for Laos will be provided
on arrival at Luang Prabang Airport (Day 2) for US$ 30.- per
person.

Air-conditioned transportation during
the tour, English speaking tour guide, all transfers and excursions
as mentioned in the above itinerary, air ticket Chiang Mai -
Luang Prabang and Luang Prabang - Vientiane, accommodation at
middle- and upper middle class hotels/resorts, half board (breakfast
and lunch), entrance fees

Visa for Laos, all drinks, tips and
personal expenses.
