CNX 014MOUNTAIN BIKING IN CHIANG MAIIn this guided tour you will cycle in Chiang Mai province. First on Doi Suhtep mountain and Mae Sa valley. Later in the mountains east of Chiang Dao area and on the last day at Ob Khan National Park. DEPARTURE: Daily from Chiang Mai, minimum 2 persons DAY 1 CHIANG MAI B/L Upon arrival transfer to the hotel in the city centre and brief information about cycling in Northern Thailand. Rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 2 CHIANG MAI B/L
Pick up from your hotel and drive up to Doi Suthep. Opportunity to warm up the legs by climbing more than 200 steps of the Naga stairway to reach Doi Suthep temple. After visiting the temple start cycling. Cycle on small paved and some dirt roads, passing some coffee plantations to reach a first Hmong hill tribe vil-lage. After a challenging uphill, on a long down-hill you reach another Hmong village in the Mae Sa valley. Cycle a few more km on paved roads and reach Mae Sa waterfall, where you can take a fresh bad. Transfer back to Chiang Mai and rest of the day free at leisure. Today's cycling approx. 30-40 km. DAY 3 CHIANG MAI B/L After breakfast, transfer from your hotel and drive in covered pick-up truck up north towards Chiang Dao. Stop at an elephant camp and watch elephants bathing and demonstrate their skills. Start your bike ride, mostly off-road, crossing nice landscapes and small villages. Visit Lisu and Akha hill tribe villages, discover also the Palong people, who origin from Myanmar, with only a few settlements in Thailand. Ride through dense forest back to the valley and transfer back to your hotel in Chiang Mai .Today's cycling is approx. 30-40 km. DAY 4 CHIANG MAI B/L Leaving from Chiang Mai cycle in direction to Wat Umong. After visiting this interesting site, continue cycling along a narrow paved lane before turn to an off road. Most of the track is flat and easy surrounded with a lure forest and nice rural country. See a white giant Buddha statue on top of a hill. Later reach Ob Khan National Park and cycle along the river which flows across a superb canyon. Have a swim in the river during your lunch break. Returning back to Chiang Mai by cycling or in the pick-up car. Today's cycling is approx. 30-40 km. DAY 5 CHIANG MAI B Day at leisure until transfer to the airport
